Doctor’s associates calls for the black day to protest Baba Ramdev’s remark.

The Federation of Resident Doctors` Association (FORDA) India will hold a nationwide protest against Yoga Guru Ramdev on Tuesday over his remarks regarding allopathic doctors and modern medicine. The controversy started with a video, floating on different social media sites, showing Ramdev claiming that modern allopathy is “a stupid and failed science”.
The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA), that had called for the protest, said that even after raising objections to Ramdev’s statements, “no action has been taken yet.”

“We are hereby declaring Nationwide Black Day Protest on 1st June 2021 at the workplace, without hampering healthcare services. We demand an unconditional open public apology from him or action against him under the relevant sections of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897,” their statement on Twitter said. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) – the country’s topmost body of doctors – has also extended support to the protest where doctors will wear black badges at the workplace
“Amidst the second wave of COVID-19, our fraternity of Corona Warriors has been striving hard to save our dearest motherland against the deadly pandemic. Despite the solemn pride of selflessly working out our abilities and even gloriously making supreme sacrifices; a new insensitive and insulting controversy by Mr. Ram Kisan Yadav alias Ramdev ‘Baba’ has been brought in spotlight challenging and questioning the modern system of evidence-based medicine and making the joint efforts made by us all fighting the pandemic seem utterly naive and futile,” the association said in a statement. “Such slanderous remarks by Mr. Ram Kisan Yadav will incite violence against the healthcare services personnel and would lead to a total failure of public health systems,” it added
The association said that patient care would not be affected as they observe the ‘Black Day Protest’.
